About the artist
alto saxophone
New York-born alto saxophonist and composer Steve Lehman fuses jazz with cutting-edge contemporary composition, a path shaped by doctoral studies at Columbia. His Pi Recordings albums, from the octet's Travail, Transformation & Flow to Sélébéyone, rank among the most daring jazz of recent years. He teaches at CalArts.
