Master's Hours: Leo Genovese & Tim Hagans

Argentine pianist and keyboardist Leo Genovese plays exuberant, genre-hopping music that moves between jazz, free improvisation and psychedelic rock. A longtime collaborator of Esperanza Spalding, he also played in a quartet with Wayne Shorter and has recorded with The Mars Volta.

Tim Hagans is a trumpeter and composer whose bold, modern sound grew out of big-band roots with Stan Kenton and Woody Herman. He co-led the Grammy-nominated Animation project with Bob Belden on Blue Note and spent years as artistic director of Sweden's Norrbotten Big Band.
