About the artists
New York singer and songwriter Queen Esther, raised in Atlanta and Charleston, draws on jazz, blues, gospel and what she calls Black Americana. She has sung with guitarist James Blood Ulmer and performed at Dizzy's Club, Joe's Pub and the Kennedy Center.
Brandi Disterheft is a Vancouver-born bassist, singer and composer with a deep, swinging groove. She studied with Ron Carter, played on Hank Jones's album Pleased to Meet You, and won a Juno Award for her debut record.
Jon Beshay is a Brooklyn saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist from Michigan whose playing carries the spirit of Detroit hard bop and the blues. He has worked with Christian McBride and the WDR Big Band and leads his own band at Smalls and Birdland.
