About the artists

Jeremy Pelt
trumpet

Trumpeter Jeremy Pelt plays muscular, lyrical post-bop and has led a long string of albums for HighNote. Along the way he has worked with Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton, Roy Hargrove and the Mingus Big Band.

Helen Sung
piano

Houston-born pianist and composer who trained classically before discovering jazz and joining the first class of the Thelonious Monk Institute. She has played with Clark Terry, Wayne Shorter and Ron Carter, and her big band album Oracles (Sunnyside, 2026) salutes those mentors.

New album: Oracles ↗ · Jun 2026
