Formed in 1979 after Charles Mingus's death, Mingus Dynasty was the first of the repertory bands keeping his music alive. This 5-to-7-piece group, the smaller sibling of the Mingus Big Band, digs into his 300-plus compositions with fiery solos and arrangements shaped on the bandstand.
